Job Description A Linux Engineer will be responsible for delivering hands-on server infrastructure project and providing level 2 and 3 technical support to the global server estate. This will also s, developing and improving the automation of existing processes and IaaS platforms and creating, documenting and implementing standards for new and existing systems. A Linux Engineer would be working as part of a global team on a range of projects or support activities and to provide support and strategy of the server environment ensuring technology remains current and adapts with industry trends. Responsibilities: ? Evaluate new and emerging technologies to support business needs ? Increase our agility by developing build automation, faster and more flexible deployment techniques, powerful configuration management ? Identify and automate manual tasks and processes ? Advanced configuration and administration of Linux servers ? Expand and evolve our infrastructure across dedicated hosted systems and cloud based deployments ? Develop sophisticated and flexible monitoring services to highlight performance and availability issues ? Support and maintain production systems (including on-call cover where required) ? Adherence to ITIL standards and processes Skills and Experience: ? Strong Automation Skills desirable ? Knowledge of Linux, Redhat and Suse (multiple versions) essential ? Experience supporting a LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) required ? Knowledge of virtualization and cloud technologies, VMWare, vRealize preferred ? Knowledge of docker and container technology preferred ? Scripting languages, shell scripting, Perl, bash, Python, Javascript preferred ? Knowledge of ITIL processes required ? Proficient troubleshooting and support skills within virtual technologies essential ? Analytical skills required ? Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with internal/external customers, vendors, management etc. in both formal and informal situations is essential ? Being self-motivated and self-accountable for delivery and adherence to standards and delivery timelines is essential
